Net & Test Point Checker User Guide

This guide provides instructions on how to use the Net & Test Point Checker tool.

1. Uploading a Netlist File

1. Drag and drop your EDIF file (.edf or .edif) onto the upload area.

2. Alternatively, click the Select File button to open a file browser and choose your netlist file.

3. Once uploaded, the application will automatically parse the file to identify all nets and associated test points.

2. Reviewing the Results

  • Summary: At the top, you'll see a summary card with statistics like Total Nets, Total Test Points, Coverage Percentage, and a list of Test Point types found.
  • Nets & Test Points Tab: The main view displays a table of all nets found in the design.
  • Net Column: Lists every unique net name. Unnamed nets (those starting with "Net") are highlighted in yellow.
  • Connections Column: Shows the number of component pins attached to each net. Nets with only one connection are highlighted in a different color.
  • Test Point Columns: Shows the type, footprint, and REFDES for any test point connected to the net.
  • All columns are sortable by clicking the header.
  • Connectors Tab: This tab lists all identified connectors (e.g., components with REFDES like 'J1' or 'P1') and the nets connected to them. It also shows ESD protection information for each pin.
  • SPI / I2C Tab: This tab provides an analysis of detected SPI and I2C buses, including their nets, pull-up resistors, and connected loads (ICs).
  • If a net does not have a test point, the corresponding columns will show 'N/A'.

3. Downloading the Report

  • Click the Download Report button and choose Excel or PDF to generate a report.
  • The PDF report will be a landscape, multi-page document containing the summary and the entire, un-truncated table.
